Jacky Lo (羅嘉俊) is a Chinese Canadian artist, researcher, and educator from Vancouver of the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh living in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal, Canada/Turtle Island. In his practice, he examines themes surrounding social connections, memories, and identities. Lo holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University and is completing his Master’s of Art Education at Concordia University.

His research interest explores the materiality of silk in art creation, production, and history and how it can inform the past, present, and a reimagined future. His current projects have been navigating his Canadian and Chinese identity, reconnecting lost narratives of his great-grandmother, and accessible and sustainable art practices.

Jacky works primarily with textiles, natural dying, embroidery, and weaving. He is drawn to the tactile and sensory nature of these materials and the history of these techniques, specifically in connection to his great-grandmother. Lo is also an advocate for accessibility and disability studies in the arts.

He has worked in education and exhibition management for galleries and museums in Vancouver and Hong Kong.

He has exhibited at the Culturel Centre Georges Vanier, Langdon Gallery, and Produit Rein in Montreal and at the Seymour Art Gallery and Audain Gallery in Vancouver. His first solo exhibition was at the Culturel Centre Georges Vanier in April 2023. Lo has also shown his work in Iceland.
